Pastor Ethan B. Sheard, affectionately known as “Pastor E,” is the youngest son of the late Bishop John Henry Sheard and First Lady Willie Mae Sheard. Following his father, Pastor Ethan serves as Senior Pastor of Greater Mitchell Temple Church of God in Christ in Detroit, Michigan. Under the nurturing guidance of his father, Pastor Ethan answered the call to ministry and served the flock of God as a Deacon, Youth President, and Assistant Pastor. He has diligently committed himself to serving the Lord, pastoring and bridging the gap between the young and old. Pastor Sheard is a dedicated leader and innovator in ministry. His past roles in the Michigan Southwest First Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction included, Youth Department President, Music and Youth Convention Chairman, Auxiliaries In Ministry Chairman, and Special Assistant to the Bishop. In 2017, he was named a Superintendent by Bishop John Henry Sheard. Pastor Ethan was named Superintendent of the Bishop John Henry Sheard Memorial District. He faithfully carries out his duties. In the fall of 2022, Pastor Sheard was ratified by the general assembly of the Church of God in Christ as Auxiliary Bishop Designate. On Monday, January 17, 2023, Presiding Bishop J. Drew Sheard consecrated Pastor Ethan B. Sheard Auxiliary Bishop in the Church of God in Christ. A Detroit native, he has worked in the real estate, education and youth sports sectors. Coach Sheard, as many know him, is anointed to lead young men and women to truth, wholeness and exemplary sportsmanship. Upon receiving the anointed mantle following his father’s transition from life to eternal life, Pastor E is one of the premier, dynamic voices for this generation. He consistently demonstrates his love for the Lord in his daily walk, and unashamedly shares that with all who he comes in contact. Bishop Ethan is the husband of Lady Gwenda Sheard, and they are the proud parents of Madison Gisele, an all-American athlete and scholar.

As a wife, mother and missionary, First Lady Gwenda Sheard is known for her caring and supportive attitude. Always willing and ready to help, Missionary Sheard serves alongside her husband, Bishop Designate, Ethan B. Sheard, Pastor of Greater Mitchell Temple Church of God in Christ. She is President of the Womens Department and Elders and Ministers Wives at Greater Mitchell Temple. She is blessed to have served faithfully under the teachings and tutelage of the late Mother Willie Mae Sheard and Bishop John Henry Sheard.. A woman of the Word, Lady Gwenda notes Romans 8:28 as her favorite verse in scripture. Among her other roles at GMT, Lady Gwenda serves as President of the Praise and Worship team, member of the Missionary Circle, Altar and Communion worker team and choir. Professionally, Gwenda has worked in the education system providing administrative support services to school principals and staff. Her time in the education system supporting families and students has garnered her praise throughout the community. It is not uncommon for former students and their parents to stop her in public to recognize the contributions she made to their school experience. Gwenda believes that we are all called to serve wherever our hands can be used. A woman of excellence and strength, Gwenda continues to perpetuate this spirit in all that her hands find to do. Notably, Gwenda's love for family is unmatched. As a wife, she encourages and supports her husband in the various roles he shares in the local, jurisdictional and national Church of God in Christ. A proud mom to Madison Giselle, she works earnestly to provide the platform for success-- a good home. As a result, Madison has made significant achievements in education, sports and ministry. Gwenda resides in Detroit, Michigan with her husband Bishop Designate Ethan B. Sheard, and their gifted and athletic daughter, Madison Giselle.
